Check out images from the 'Footloose' remake

It looks like director Craig Brewer might have what's best for the '80s in his heart as he finishes up work on the remake of our beloved classic Footloose. Photos from the film have surfaced online, and it looks like the spirit of the Kevin Bacon film remains intact.

Brewer recently spoke about his version of the take and the original Footloose with USA Today, which recently visited the set.

"I had the soundtrack in my Walkman all the time. I constantly played it," he said. "The project that they wanted to do was like a big dance celebration of Footloose. I gravitate more toward the conflict between Rev. Moore and his daughter. The relationship between Ren and Willard."

Sounds great to me! Seriously. If Brewer can pull this off, it's good for everyone, especially those of us who want our '80s classics lovingly recreated. (Are you listening to me, Fame and Red Dawn producers?)

Look for the remake of Footloose to hit theaters on Oct. 14. In the meantime, here are more photos:
