Crowded House's tour of the U.S. includes July 28 gig in Clearwater
Here's a band we're going to hear a lot more of this summer: Crowded House. The half-Aussie, half-Kiwi band is ready to start a world tour, and it includes a date July 28 at Clearwater's Ruth Eckerd Hall.
Also in the works: A new album -- Intriguer -- that's set for release in mid-June.
The Crowdies start a UK/Europe tour on May 18 and a North American tour on July 12, but I don't have any other dates for you. Their official Web site is undergoing renovation, so I guess we'll have to wait to see what other cities they're visiting.
As for Floridians, well, it's happy days. Neil Finn and the boys haven't been in our state for 10 years. Tickets for the Clearwater show go on sale Friday at noon.
Oddly enough, I caught Crowded House live back in Gainesville in 1986 during a huge, free outdoor show. And they did indeed play a few Split Enz hits during the show. I'd love to see their set list these days. Rumor has it they squeeze a Hunters & Collectors song in there as well.
