The day Elizabeth Taylor landed on 'General Hospital'
Elizabeth Taylor's death on Wednesday no doubt will lead us all to recall our favorite moment by the actress. For '80s fans, it's hard to look past her 1981 appearance on ABC's General Hospital.
Taylor, reportedly a longtime fan of the soap opera, asked to be cast in the show and appears in the Nov. 17, 1981 episode featuring the wedding of Luke and Laura. She played the widow of Mikkos Cassadine, whom Luke and Laura killed, and bestows a curse on the newlyweds (see video below.)
It wouldn't be her only '80s work, though her career was slowing down at that point. She also starred in the 1980 mystery film The Mirror Crack'd, the TV film Malice in Wonderland and the miniseries North and South. In addition to guest starring in General Hospital, she also appeared on All My Children.
Her infamous "Luke and Laura" curse is at the end of this clip.
Somewhat more entertaining is this reel of outtakes:
