Debbie "Call me Deborah ... or just Gibson" Gibson is a golden goddess to the Stuck in the '80s nation ever since her in-person appearance here in St. Petersburg and the loving, long embrace she gave me once our interview was over. So this new report from Denver correspondent and former co-host Chase Squires made me squeal like a 13-year-old hopped on Sun Country winecoolers:
So we have
lots of fun at the big Pride Fest here in Denver, always a good time and a huge parade, lots to see, vendors, food, the whole bit. It's a big summer event. And I'm always looking to see what bands will be playing on the main stage.
Imagine my surprise when I see the headliner, none other than 80s legend
Deborah "Not Debbie" Gibson! Turns out Ms. Gibson is apparently a big supporter of GLBT rights.
So there's that. You learn something new every day. I'll be sure to take pictures; it's cool to see she's active in a cause.
also has some things about her political stance,
and a statement from her blog:
"Deborah has just done a brand new photo shoot to raise awareness for human equality. I will be personally selling the new T-shirt on
Santa Monica Blvd tomorrow
for anyone in the LA area (so please find me, say hi and buy a Tee!). The shirts will also be available at the upcoming
, Denver and Chicago Pride festivals where Deborah will be performing."
