Dennis DeYoung, Florida Orchestra team up for Clearwater concert

dennis_deyoung_roboto7-2.jpgDennis DeYoung is Styx, even if it's a name he can't totally claim to himself these days. But, with all due respect to Tommy Shaw and James Young, if you want to hear the biggest hits of Styx voiced to total perfection these days, you have to go see Dennis in concert.

Thankfully for us in Tampa Bay, we get that chance again on Feb. 24 when Dennis DeYoung teams up with the Florida Orchestra for an incredible night of music at Clearwater's Ruth Eckerd Hall.

Dennis will have his regular six-piece touring band with him, but this show features the added ummph of a symphony. The Florida Orchestra's "rock shows" are never, NEVER to be missed. (Last season's Queen show still rattles around happily inside me.)

Dennis does have solo material to pull from -- look for Desert Moon to make an appearance -- but expect a night of songs that he made into hits during his stint with Styx, including The Grand Illusion, Lady, Lorelei, Show Me the Way, Mr. Roboto, Rockin' the Paradise and Babe. Last time I caught him in concert, the highlight was Castle Walls.

Tickets for the show are $45, $65 & $85 and are available starting Nov. 28 online at and through the Florida Orchestra ticket center at 727.892.3337 and 1.800.662.7286.
