Duran Duran webcast concert to be directed by ... David Lynch?!?

David Lynch/AP photoDavid Lynch is set to direct a concert webcast for Duran Duran. ... There's no punchline coming. But maybe there should be. Hey, we loved Dune and Blue Velvet as much as the next social outcast, but it's still a leap to go from directing Dennis Hopper sucking down gas to giving eyeliner tips to Nick Rhodes. Right, Nick?

"The stranger it is, the more beautiful it will be," Rhodes tells Billboard. "What appeals to us very much about working with David is that we like the way he thinks about things and how he's always gone out on a limb to make things different than anybody else. He works completely outside of the system, and that’s what we try to do."

More "outside the system" than say, your last album Red Carpet Massacre? Because we all know how that turned out.

Catch the Lynch-directed Duran Duran concert -- dubbed "Unstaged" -- at 10 p.m. on March 23 (the day after the physical release of the new album All You Need is Now). It's being shot at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles. You can watch it here on Youtube.
