Duran Duran's U.S. tour begins today: Which classics MUST be on the setlist?
Duran Duran kicks off its North American tour tonight in ... Everett, Washington. So those lucky bastards will be the first to tell the rest of us which songs to expect on this latest round of concerts by Simon, John, Nick and Roger.
If you're looking for some tips, I can offer this. When I talked to Simon last night, he was in the middle of drawing up the setlist. He said he was looking for one-third new songs from All You Need is Now and two-thirds hits and forgotten gems and B-sides. And he said the setlist will evolve from city to city so don't get too discouraged if your favorite hit isn't included in one of the early shows.
So here's my question: Assuming the set list is 18 songs (one song longer than the band's recent rehearsal shows), which 12 classics and/or B-sides absolutely NEED to make the list?
Here are mine: Hungry Like the Wolf, Planet Earth, The Chauffeur, Rio, Save a Prayer, Come Undone, Ordinary World, Falling Down, The Reflex, Tiger Tiger, My Antarctica, Night Boat.
That being said, I'd be shocked if half of those actually made the list. And you'll notice I left off Girls on Film. Sorry. I know it's a classic, but it's never been a personal fave. And like I said, YOU pick the 12 songs. So which 12 would you pick?
