Eighties in a minute: Steven Tyler, Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran and Steve Perry!
... The Pet Shop Boys have released their live CD/DVD combo from last year's Pandemonium tour. (Sadly, it's not available in the U.S. until late March.) They also extended their tour for five more dates. [Watch trailer]
... The sun always shines on a-ha ... and their U.S. fans. That's why the band has added a third show to NYC for their farewell tour.
... Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes says the band yearns to do more with mobile media. (Okay, but how about finishing that new album first?)
TODAY'S STUCK IN THE '80s FRIEND BLAST ... is from David Featherston in Australia. "How are you, mate? The Olympics podcast was a really interesting one in that it certainly didn't have the effect down under that it had over there. I only have a slight recollection of it making the news here. The big international '80s sporting story here was Australia winning the America's Cup in 1984. Up until then, the U.S. had never been beaten in something like 110 years. It made Men at Work's Down Under a hit all over again. Interestingly, I have heard that losing it wasn't as big a deal for you guys as winning it was for us."
Sure it did, David! That's why we forced Matthew Modine and Jennifer Grey to make the 1992 movie Wind, which nobody seems to like except me. Click here to see a trailer.
