Ernest Borgnine, our favorite '80s cabbie, dies at age 95
Ernest Borgnine, the Oscar-winning actor who gave us classic movies every decade of his career, died Sunday at age 95. Our parents knew him from McNale's Navy. We worshiped him in Escape from New York. Our kids still watch him today as Mermaid Man in SpongeBob SquarePants.
In the '80s alone, Borgnine had more than two dozen acting credits, including TV roles on The Love Boat, Magnum P.I., Matt Houston, Airwolf and a slew of Dirty Dozen movies for TV. But no big-screen movie could top his turn as Cabbie in 1981's Escape from New York.
Check out this great interview with Ernest below where he talks about the movie and the crowd's reaction to his death scene.
