E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial returns to theaters Oct. 3

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a Blu-ray release and a one-day-only return to move theaters. (Save the "phone home" jokes; even E.T. facebooks now.)

Oct. 3 is the big day for 500 cineplexes around the country. You'll have to plug in your ZIP code into the Fathom Events website to find a participating theater near you. In the Tampa Bay area, they include: Park Place Stadium 16 in Pinellas Park; Hyde Park Cinebistro in Tampa; Citrus Stadium Park Mall 20 in Tampa; AMC Regency 20 in Brandon; Grove 16 Cinemas in Wesley Chapel; Hollywood Stadium 20 in Sarasota; Lakeside 18 Cinemas in Lakeland; and AMC Sarasota 12 in Sarasota.

Added bonus: TCM Weekend Daytime Host Ben Mankiewicz and actor Drew Barrymore will appear (on screen obviously) before the movie with some insider info on the making of the movie.

If you'd rather wait for the Blu-ray release, that comes Oct. 9. According to the L.A. Times, the anniversary edition Blu-ray combo pack includes the original 1982 movie, a remastered version, an interview with Steven Spielberg and other assorted goodies.
