E.T. sequel? There's a script out there

et-1.jpgE.T. made it home, right? End of story? Maybe not. A short script for a sequel -- titled E.T. II: Nocturnal Fears -- was written by Steven Spielberg and Melissa Mathison, according to a new report.

In fact, you can read the entire script, which was retrieved by the website Geek Tyrant. (Click here for the PDF.)

According to MSNBC, the storyline was written just a month after E.T. opened in theaters in 1982. In it, a spaceship returns to Earth with "a group of evil, carnivorous aliens in search of a stranded comrade. Turns out they're a mutation of E.T.'s brand of aliens, and are at war with his kind. They kidnap and torment E.T.'s childhood pals, but eventually, it's E.T. to the rescue!"

Wow. That sounds truly ... awful. Thanks for the self-control, Spielberg.

Actually, the man himself denied any rumors of a sequel when reports first surfaced in 2009.

“I'm never going to make 'E.T. II' -- 'E.T.' is a closed story," Spielberg told Ace Showbiz.
