'Footloose' remake finds another leading man
Maybe the Rev. Shaw Moore was right all along. "If our Lord wasn't testing us, how would you account for the proliferation, these days, of this obscene rock and roll music, with its gospel of easy sexuality and relaxed morality?"
Relaxed morality?!? Stop the dancing! Stop the Footloose remake! Sadly, it may be too late for all that.
Paramount Pictures announced Tuesday that Kenny Wormald will inherit the role of "Ren" originally made famous by the great Kevin Bacon in the original 1984 movie. I love how the Associated Press describes the movie: "... about a rebellious city youth who busts some moves in his new town, where dancing has been banned."
Busts some moves? Wrong year, guys. Nobody busted any movies until Young MC in 1989. But we appreciate the attempt at being cool.
But really, our first objection should be: Who the hell is Kenny Wormald?!? "Wormald's previous credits include the MTV series Dancelife."
Okay, but can he ... BUST A MOVE?
Wormald -- the name just rolls off the tongue -- will co-star with Julianne Hough and Dennis Quaid. (It's either a brilliant decision on Quaid's part of the beginning of the end for his career.)
High School Musical's Zac Efron couldn't bust one and dropped out of the Footloose remake last year. Despite all the delays, the atrocity is expected to reach the big screen on April 1, 2011. April Fools Day, anyone?
