Free '80s movies each Saturday at the Beach Theatre

Xanadu1 What's better than watching an '80s flick at home on DVD? Catching them on the big screen again -- for free.

The historic Beach Theatre on St. Pete Beach is showing a free '80s movie each Saturday morning this summer, beginning June 20 with Xanadu (motto: "Just close your eyes and enjoy the music"). Normally the Beach Theatre shows free kids flicks each weekend anyway, but we appreciate the nod to our favorite decade.

You don't have to have a kid with you to enjoy the free movie each weekend, starting at 10 a.m. each Saturday. Here's the schedule:

  • JUNE 20: Xanadu
  • JUNE 27: Explorers
  • JULY 4: Xanadu
  • JULY 11: Stargate (not technically an '80s flick, but we don't mind)
  • JULY 18: Flash Gordon
  • JULY 25: Ferris Bueller's Day Off
  • AUG 1: Flash Gordon
  • AUG 8: Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
  • AUG 15: Star Trek 2
  • AUG 22: E.T. The Extraterrestrial

The Beach Theatre also shows The Rocky Horror Picture Show each Saturday night, featuring a live cast.
