Friday earworm: Real Life's 'Send Me An Angel'

Aussie synth-poppers Real Life gave us this lovely earworm back in 1983. I think the video is actually more addictive than the song:

Of course, Real Life is one of the EIGHT bands playing at Lost '80s Weekend in Las Vegas on Aug. 14.(The others: Flock of Seagulls, When in Rome, The Motels, Dramarama, Escape Club, Animotion and Gene Loves Jezebel. Each band is only doing a very abbreviated set of their biggest tunes. Dare I say a night of classic hits?)

Real Life formed in Melbourne in 1980. The lineup has changed over the years, but founder/lead vocalist David Sterry has marched on carrying the band's banner. According to its official website, the band will play two other shows in the U.S. this summer after the Lost '80s concert.

As for Send Me An Angel, the song reached the Top 10 in several counties (selling particularly well in Germany and Sweden.) A 1989 remake of the song fared better in the U.S. than the original. Reports have it that 17 different versions of the song exist. The tune actually inspired a watch from Alexora. Click here to see it. It's one of several watches inspired by '80s tunes.

[Still plenty of time to join Sean Daly and myself in Las Vegas for Lost '80s Weekend. E-mail us for more info!]
