General Hospital's John Ingle dies at age 84
Sad news again today: John Ingle, who played Edward Quartermaine on General Hospital for two decades, has died at age 84 of cancer, Reuters reports. He made his final appearance in an episode airing last week, the Associated Press says.
“With great sadness, I share the news of John Ingle’s passing. We love him and will miss him. John will always be a part of the #GH family,” the show’s executive producer Frank Valentini tweeted on Monday.
Ingle was a drama teacher for 30 years at Beverly Hills High School and Hollywood High School for a combined 30 years before beginning his acting career. His students included future stars Richard Dreyfuss, Barbara Hershey, David Schwimmer and Nicolas Cage.
If you're thinking you saw Ingle elsewhere, you're right: His television credits include Cheers, The Drew Carey Show, Beverly Hills 90210 and Dallas.
