Is 'Ghostbusters 3' finally dead? Ivan Reitman hints end is near
The day that Ghostbusters 3 is either released in theaters or killed before it's filmed, I'll have to stop writing the Stuck in the '80s blog. Because frankly, I'll have run out of things to write about. Rumors and updates about a Ghostbusters reboot/sequel have given me many happy hours of snarkiness to fill this medium. So imagine my distress at reading that director Ivan Reitman might be ready to walk away.
"Well, I’d like to go forward and make new things," Reitman told Collider, when asked about his Ghostbusters project. Of course, it's not that simple. His dismissal was followed by: "I think Ghostbusters probably should be remade, if we can get it all right."
Ivan, I love you, man, but I don't think anyone can "get it all right" at this point. Bill Murray wants nothing to do with it, and I can't imagine a film without Murray. Dan Aykroyd is the only one left carrying the banner, when he's not pitching his vodka. Time to let Slimer, go. Just ... let him go.
