MTV's original veejays

MTV's 30th anniversary is just around the corner. (Don't make me remind you of the date .... Aug. 1, 1981!) And of course, the four surviving VJs have something special planned for '80s fans.

Sirius XM Radio will host Martha Quinn, Alan Hunter, Mark Goodman and Nina Blackwood for "The '80s on 8 30th Anniversary VJ Special" on Monday. (All four have regular shows now on Sirius, if you didn't know.)

According to Sirius, "the special will relive the earliest days of music television as Martha, Alan, Mark and Nina share their memories as the first ever VJs on MTV. They will play back the songs that comprised the first five hours of videos in the sequence they originally aired -- including Phil Collins' In The Air Tonight, Blondie's Rapture and the first video ever played on MTV, Video Killed The Radio Star by the Buggles."

Special guests will include Pat Benatar, Eddie Money, Rick Springfield and Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran.

Listen for "The ‘80s on 8 30th Anniversary VJ Special" on Monday, Aug. 1 at 7 a.m. ET. The special will be rebroadcast at 1 and 7 p.m. ET on '80s on 8, channel 8.

If you're not yet a subscriber to Sirius XM, here's a deal for you: Sirius is offering a 7-day free trial of their online-only service. Perfect timing! Visit this website for details.
