Guess what happens in today's 'Ghostbusters 3' update!
I'm seriously running out of movie quotes -- from the most quotable movie of the '80s! -- to describe the continued, but not surprising, delays surrounding the making of Ghostbusters 3. (Yes, yes. "Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!" is the obvious pick. But what about "I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought.")
The latest: According to Indiewire.com, the sequel has been delayed yet again with no plans to make a decision until next spring. That means shooting wouldn't start until next fall at the earliest. I believe that's about the time that Ray Stantz's balloon payment is due on that second home mortgage.
At least the problem this time around isn't the wavering of Bill Murray. (He's out! Stop asking him!) Or script-writing woes. (They've thrown enough money around to remake Lawrence of Arabia a couple times over.) It's because Sony Pictures Entertainment might be up for sale, so nobody is greenlighting any questionable projects while the company is in play.
Holy hell, that's the smartest move so far.
Speaking of unsmart moves, it appears bookmakers are actually taking bets on who will star in sequel. Seth Rogen is the favorite at 3-to-1, with Jack Black paying off 7-to-1.
