'Heathers' sequel coming as Bravo TV series
It looks like Veronica and J.D. will live again. Well, not J.D. ... Bravo is planning a TV series based on the 1988 movie Heathers, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Well, something-something me gently with a chain saw, because that's actually not the worst idea I've ever heard.
According to THR, the series will pick up the Heathers storyline 20 years later, with Winona Ryder's character (Veronica, don't you know!) coming back home with her own teen daughter. The twist, of course, is that the daughters of the surviving "Heathers" -- the next generation of mean girls -- are ready and waiting to play a whole new set of reindeer games.
If it wasn't Bravo, I'd say it's a dead-in-the-Drano idea, but I like the moxie of this network -- at least when they aren't pimping their human-rights-violation Real Housewives series. Bonus points if Ryder returns as her original character.
Look for the TV Heathers to show up next year. And remember: Chaos was what killed the dinosaurs, darling.
