'Highlander' remake could star Ryan Reynolds
There can be only one Highlander, and that part was played by Christopher Lambert in the original 1986 movie. Now we hear that Ryan Reynolds may be next in line to play the immortal swordsman who needs to keep his head on.
Collider.com says "Lionsgate/Summit is apparently keen on the actor taking the lead in their reboot of the Highlander franchise." Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) is set to direct. The parties involved are calling this a "reboot" instead of a remake, which I guess gives them the latitude to change the time and places and just about every other facet of the movie that we loved in the '80s. (I can't see the Green Lantern trying on a Scottish accent.)
That being said, as a fan of Reynolds, I could see a lot worse picks for the role. And I'm sure the ladies out there wouldn't mind seeing Ryan in a kilt.
