How old is the '80s generation? AARP interviews 'Dallas' cast

Dallas cast/AARP photoThe Dallas reboot is set to premiere June 13 on TNT, so it's fun to see Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray doing the publicity rounds again. And if you're looking for the most entertaining interview so far, don't look at MTV, Rolling Stone or even one of the weekly gossip sheets.

It's on the website for AARP The Magazine. Oh, don't act so surprised. Chances are you're pretty close to qualifying for a subscription yourself. And for the record, Hagman is 80, Gray is 71 and Duffy is a youthful 63.

Here are some notable quotes from the interview and video, which you read and see here:

WHY REMAKE IT: "Let's be honest," Duffy tells. "The only reason Dallas is being done now is because they can get J. R. back on the air. That character is as iconic as the ranch itself."

THE ENDURING APPEAL: Gray attributes the appeal to its realistic treatment of social issues, like alcoholism. "We were ahead of what was happening in society."

ITS RELEVANCE TODAY: "My theory," Hagman says, "is that everybody has a jerk like J.R. in the family, and they can identify with that."

Go to TNT's official Dallas site for previews, games and more. Dallas *returns* June 13 at 9 p.m. on TNT.
