Hungry Hungry Hippos coming to big screen; childhood memories officially crushed
This is no possible explanation on a gravity-dependent planet such as our own for a movie to be made from the board game Hungry Hungry Hippos. So that's exactly what Hollywood is doing.
I'd almost rather see Fast Times at Ridgemont High remade, starring Sean Penn as either Mr. Hand or Dennis (the manager of All-American Burger), before this miscarriage of justice.
"Rhode Island-headquartered Hasbro, which has a film production office at the Universal Pictures lot, announced the three-picture deal Thursday and confirmed that the first movie will be Monopoly, which the two companies hope to start production on in 2013," says the L.A. Times. "Emmett/Furla principal Randall Emmett confirmed that the other two properties covered by the deal are Action Man and Hungry Hungry Hippos." (Action Man is a British toy similar to G.I. Joe.)
Monopoly, I can understand. Hell, it's Wall Street again. But marble-scarfing hippos? Cash me out.
