I weep for the future: Celebrate 25 years of Ferris Bueller with new Blu-ray DVD

Another special edition of Ferris Bueller's Day Off? Ooooh, yeah. Paramount Home Entertainment is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Ferris with a Blu-ray/DVD commemorative package to be released on Aug. 2. In case you're wondering, the John Hughes movie officially turns 25 on June 11.

The DVD also includes the behind-the-scenes featurettes "Getting the Class Together - The Cast of Ferris Bueller's Day Off," "The Making of Ferris Bueller's Day Off," "Who is Ferris Bueller?," "The World According to Ben Stein" and "Vintage Ferris Bueller: The Lost Tapes" as well as a Class Album.

Nerds will be happy to know the Blu-ray (suggested retail price: just $19.99; regular DVD at $12.99) will be presented in 1080p high definition with English 5.1 Dolby TrueHD, English 2.0 Dolby Surround and English Mono and English, English SDH, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles. (Gotta have the Portuguese!)

Aren't you happy that I wrote an entire item on Ferris without using the "Life moves pretty fast" line? Duh. We're 40-something years old. Life is moving lightning fast. And you can stop and look around all you want, but my guess is that you still miss 75 percent of it. Here are some other no-brainer quotes from the movie.

TOP 5 'DUH' LINES FROM FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF:

5. "You realize if we played by the rules right now we'd be in gym?"

4. "In a nutshell: I hate my brother."

3. "A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself."

2. "Anything is peaceful from one thousand, three hundred and fifty-three feet."

1. "Ferris Bueller, you're my hero."
