'I'm here for anything but Madonna'
It seems the Material Girl isn't the kind of material that fans want to see and hear at today's hippest music festivals. Madonna made a quick appearance Sunday at California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, emerging from inside a large disco ball. (Yeah, we're guessing the indie crowd wasn't thrilled with the disco ball either. How do you top the lameness of this? Use the Backstreet Boys as the closing act?)
The two-day festival in Indio, Calif., draws up to 100,000 fans and is best known for its lineup of indie rock bands. Sunday's lineup featured 47 music acts, including fan favorites Mates of State and James Blunt.
Madonna's set lasted a half hour and included only five songs.
"I'm here for anything but Madonna," a Brazilian model told the Associated Press. "Madonna is too pop to be here."
