INXS calls it quits on stage after 35 years



inxs.jpgThis shocking news just in from Australia: INXS announced on stage Sunday night in Perth, Australia, that the night's concert would be their final live show.

"Drummer Jon Farriss announced the emotional news that they are disbanding and admitted 'I’m getting teary,' before they launched into one of their biggest hits, Need You Tonight," Perth Now is reporting.

According to, the Sydney Morning Herald confirmed the split: "(Farriss) said they didn’t want to reveal anything ahead of the concert, but it was 'the last time' they would perform together. Farriss thanked the audience for their support throughout the years.."

The news comes on the 25th anniversary of the band's album Kick -- and nearly 15 years to the day after the death of lead singer Michael Hutchence. As of Sunday night, no announcement has been made on the band's official website.

Update: On Monday morning, it was reported that the band will make a formal announcement on Tuesday. According to The Australian, "Current frontman Ciaran Gribbin wrote on Facebook today: 'Dear friends, I know a lot of you are concerned and want clarification on what happened at the INXS gig last night in Perth. As I write this most of INXS are on a plane flying from Perth to Sydney. Please try and be patient as the Band plan to release a full statement on the subject ASAP. I'm sorry I can't say anymore at this time and hope this helps ease a few worries and concerns. Thank you All for all the love and kind wishes. Ciaran.' "
