It's no sin to love Pet Shop Boys or their 2009 setlist
Pet Shop Boys fans around the U.S. are getting psyched for their upcoming North American tour, but at least one '80s fans has different thoughts on our fave Brit duo of the '80s. Stay tuned for the 2009 setlist below, but first, check out this e-mail received today at Stuck in the '80s:
Dear Spearsy & Seannie-poo -- I recently made a horrific discovery that has left me questioning all that I know to be true.
My husband is a soldier in the United States Army. In the past 7 years that we've been married, we've had 4 deployments as well as numerous field exercises that have him away from home for as little as a week & sometimes 30 days.
As a result he has lots of CD's and DVDs as well as music on his laptop. This past week he decided to do a complete system reinstall on his laptop so he digging in his Army closet for his CD/DVD cases. I decided to look through them to see if there was anything I hadn't uploaded to my iTunes and that is when I discovered something so shocking that it shook me to my core and has me questioning my marriage.
There, in the middle of the case, was the following disc: The Pet Shop Boys: The Very Best.
HOW could he do this to me? WHO is this man? WHY didn't I know this before we were married? I knew he had eclectic taste in music and was able to appreciate it. But the Pet Shop Boys???
Please help me. How do we move beyond this? Do I out him to our family and friends? Should I get rid of my Adam Ant Antics in the Forbidden Zone for fear of a similar discovery? HELP!
Like you, I am, Stuck in the 80's ... Laurie C of Columbus, GA
First of all, Laurie, it's going to be okay. I myself own pretty much every Pet Shop Boys song. They're a band to be CELEBRATED, not condemned. Try this suggestion: Next time he's home, dress up all '80s-ish, turn on a couple black lights (a prop all '80s fans should own), cue up the PSB album and show him the real meaning of the song It's A Sin. You'll feel much better. You both will actually.
Meanwhile, here's the setlist for the Pet Shop Boys 2009 tour, which hits Tampa on September 10 at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. If there's a greater deity in the universe, I'll be sitting front row center for that epic event.
