Jeff Daniels is about to become a huge star (again)
Jeff Daniels could have owned the '80s. In some ways, he did. He broke into the decade on the TV version of Breaking Away. Caught Woody Allen's eye and made The Purple Rose of Cairo and Radio Days. Dazzled us as Charles Driggs in 1986's Something Wild. But since then, he's been a bit quieter, with the exception of Speed and Dumb & Dumber in the 90s.
That's all about to change. Behold our first look at the new HBO series The Newsroom, which stars Daniels as an anchor of a 24-hour news network who's about to go through a personal crisis of sorts.
Daniels looks amazing here, right? From the mind of Aaron Sorkin, The Newsroom just feels like the right show at the right time. And when was the last time HBO did something less than spectacular? Never.
