John Bender ... is Santa Claus? ... in a Hallmark movie?!?
Judd Nelson is playing Kris Kringle in the upcoming holiday Hallmark movie, Cancel Christmas. Well, eat ... my .... red-and-white shorts. I'm going to say this is a GOOD thing. It's about time the '80s generation took over every single cable channel and taught this younger generational a little something about family values, even if it's through a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess ... and a criminal.
Here's the scoop from Hallmark, according to my friend Whitney at Pop Candy:
"Santa Claus (Nelson) is flabbergasted to learn while attending the annual Christmas Board of Directors meeting -- yes, they have one -- that he's facing an ultimatum: make Christmas less about materialism and greed or face the cancellation of the holiday forever. ... And so Santa heads out to change the hearts of privileged kids in the hope that they will reach out to help a young boy in a wheelchair. He takes on the role of a janitor at a private school and encourages the rich, spoiled students to give to those less fortunate, transforming the season back into one of joy, goodness and sharing."
And yes, of course, there's a trailer you can watch. Cancel Christmas airs Nov. 13 at 8 p.m.
