John Cusack's next role: Edgar Allan Poe!

john_cusack.jpgJohn Cusack has played a disgraced ball player. A grifter. A geek. An arms dealer. Puppeteer. Even Adolf Hitler's best friend. Now comes perhaps the most unusual role yet: Edgar Allan Poe in a 2011 film called The Raven.

"officiali- will play edgar allen poe in fall-a-film called the raven, send any poe- gold - my way as i begin this journey into the abyss," Cusack confirmed today via Twitter.

According to, The Raven is " fictionalized account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life, in which the poet is in pursuit of a serial killer whose murders mirror those in the writer's stories."

Not much else is known about the production, other than James McTeigue will direct the movie, which was written by Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare.

Wow, now there's a last name with even more to live up to than Poe/Cusack himself.
