Kevin Bacon as X-Men villain? Jump back!

footloose200.jpgKevin Bacon as an X-Men villain? Our boy Ren? Well, in Footloose, I guess all those backward townies considered Ren a villain, but only because he wanted to put on a prom. (Come to think of it, given my memories of prom, maybe Bacon is indeed evil.)

Variety reports that Bacon is on board to play the lead villain in X-Men: First Class. Rumor has it he will play the character Mister Sinister. Thankfully, I know nothing about Mister Sinister or any other comic book villain because I have a life. (Okay, I don't have a life, but I also don't like comics. Sorry.)

The story will follow the origin of the X-Men characters as young men discovering their powers. for 20th Century Fox, the studio has closed a deal for Kevin Bacon to star as a lead villain.

Jennifer Lawrence is on board as Mystique, the blue mutant shapeshifter played by Rebecca Romijn in the first three films. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender will play young Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr ("Magneto"), respectively, Variety says.

Come to think of it, Bacon has had his share of villainous roles over the years.
