Last Starfighter podcast: Gung-ho iguanas, Playboy stashes, and the Carol Janssen Effect
This week's podcast honors the '80s classic flick The Last Starfighter, which I hesitate to label as just a sci-fi movie.
That's because it's so much more than that. It's about loving something or someone you can't have. About setting aside your fears and taking those big chances when you get them. About never giving up on what you want, even when the whole universe is seemingly against you.
Oh, and it's about female aliens that look like Larry David, porn mags in the hands of underaged boys and two doughy '80s addicts who have formed an unholy attachment to Mrs. Carol Janssen of Auburn, Wash. Sorry Mr. Janssen. We owe you some Funyuns at the very least.
Even if you've never seen 1984's The Last Starfighter, give this week's podcast a try anyway. It's worth it alone for the Reader Mailbag, Mystery Movie Moment and Name that '80s Tune segments. Click here to download it. Or click here to get all our shows for free via iTunes.
And please leave us a comment below with feedback. Unless you're Mr. Janssen, in which case, just leave the restraining order by our front door.
