Lisa Blount of 'Officer and a Gentleman' dies
Lisa Blount, best known to '80s fans for her role in An Officer and a Gentleman, has died. The 53-year-old actress was found dead in her Little Rock, Ark., home Wednesday by her mother, according to media reports.
A cause of death is not known yet. Her husband, director-producer Ray McKinnon (Apollo 13, The Blind Side), was out of town, says TVGuide.com.
Blount earned a Golden Globe nomination for playing Debra Winger's best friend, Lynette, in the 1982's An Officer and a Gentleman. (She's the reason David Keith's character kills himself.) In 2001, she won an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film as the producer of The Accountant, which co-starred her husband.
Blount's other '80s credits include Great Balls of Fire and appearances on Magnum P.I. and Moonlighting.
