Madonna paycheck for Super Bowl halftime? Nothing
Madonna is easily one of the most self-absorbed, egotistical performers of the last half century. (And that's me being nice.) And so you'd think she'd command a king's ransom to perform at today's Super Bowl halftime in Indianapolis. And you'd be wrong.
According to AP, Madonna gets nothing. Well, other than a global audience of 110 million to promote her new album and the freedom to do anything short of a nipple-slip for 12 minutes.
Here are a few other surprises about Madonna's halftime show:
- She's the first female invited to the show since Janet Jackson in 2004 (see: nipple-gate).
- Madonna could be in legal trouble if she plays Girls Gone Wild, a new song, at halftime. The song is being legally contested by Girls Gone Wild soft-porn founder/king Joe Francis.
- At age 53, Madonna is old enough to be the mother of the oldest player on the field for today's game (Patriots running back Kevin Faulk, who is 35).
