Name this band and help with our next Stuck in the '80s interview
Pop quiz: How many '80s musicians can you name in the above photo? And what band were they in together?
You're thinking. I can hear the wheels turning. Need some hints? It's an English band. From the early '80s. When they split up, they formed two bands that were far more famous than their original group.
Yes, that's Neon, with Neil Taylor, Rob Fisher, Pete Byrne, Curt Smith and Manny Elias. Pete and Rob would go on to form Naked Eyes. Curt would join Roland Orzabal to form Tears for Fears. And Thursday, if all goes as planned, Stuck in the '80s will be talking to Tears for Fears (probably Curt). And you can bet I'll be asking about Neon.
I'll also ask if Curt is ready to sing a song for me backstage at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Sept. 1 like Pete Byrne did a few years ago when Naked Eyes came through Tampa Bay. I'm guessing I'll get a "ummm, no" but it never hurts.
In the meantime, if you have other suggested questions for Tears for Fears, let me know!
