NBC uses its Freedom of Choice: Devo to play Winter Olympics

Devo_chicagoposterawnm Devo will play a televised concert at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, according to Is this part of some new motivational campaign for U.S. athletes? "I can't get no ... gold metal action!"

The concert will be at the Whistler Medals Plaza venue on Feb. 22. NBC says it will be broadcast on TV.

Special treat for Devo fans: Singer Mark Mothersbaugh says fans can expect new material during the show.

"Now, more than ever before, it is time to disobey the mob and think for ourselves," Mothersbaugh explained, adding that Devo's goals for 2010 are, "to remind people that biology is destiny, and De-evolution is real! We are back with inspirational tomes of truth and neuro-simpatico sonic nuggets for the entire world, not just our species!"

Sounds like a new Olympic motto to us.

BTW, if you're looking for some cool posters to decorate your own personal Lair, the band has released posters from its 2009 tour to its online store. (The San Francisco poster hangs in a prominent spot in the original Lair.)
