Newt apologizes for using Survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger'
Former GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has officially apologized to '80s rockers Survivor for using their hit anthem Eye of the Tiger during his campaign.
TMZ has a copy of the official letter that Gingrich sent to the band's guitarist/songwriter Frankie Sullivan: "We are very sorry that your song Eye of the Tiger was associated with the 2012 Newt Gingrich campaign. We will do our utmost to assure that this does not happen again."
Short and sweet. The band had sued Gingrich back in January for using their tune from Rocky III without official permission.
