No Tom Cruise, but Bern's Winefest goes back to the '80s
We remember Tom Cruise's Cocktail poetry like it was only yesterday (rather than 1988 ... seriously?)
I see America drinking the fabulous cocktails I make.
Americans getting stinky on something I stir or shake.
The sex on the beach, the schnapps made from peach.
The velvet hammer, the Alabama slammer.
I make things with juice and froth - the pink squirrel, the three-toed sloth.
I make drinks so sweet and snazzy, the iced tea. the kamikaze, the orgasm, the death spasm, the Singapore sling , the ding-a-ling.
America you've just been devoted to every flavor I got, but if you want to got loaded, why don't you just order a shot?
While there's no going back to 1988, Bern's Steak House is giving us the next best thing. This year's Winefest -- a four-day event including a 200-plus wine grand tasting, a champagne reception, a pair of winemaker dinners and Saturday night cocktail party -- has a familiar theme.
For the Saturday night event, SideBern's goes "Back to the '80s" with plans to transform the eatery into a like-totally-awesome nightclub with retro décor, '80s themed cocktails and live entertainment provided by Tampa's Rubix Cubed, the Stuck in the '80s official cover band.
The Saturday Soiree is April 9 from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets aren't cheap -- $115 per person -- but they include all food and drinks. What's the dress code? If you have to ask, you're reading the wrong blog.
