Nothing's gonna stop her now: Grace Slick is 70 years old!

Grace slick Grace Slick, the songstress behind Jefferson Airplane (then Jefferson Starship then just Starship) turns 70 years old today. Is that possible? Do we have our math right?

(And why do all our bones and joints suddenly ache? Wait, is that a clump of hair in the shower? Just a little sympathetic aging pains, we assume.)

Though she'll eternally be associated with earlier decades, Slick and her Jefferson/Starship empire had a nice run in the '80s, cranking out six albums, including the universally mocked or beloved Knee Deep in the Hoopla disc in 1985. (Sorry, but We Built This City is NOT the worst song of the '80s.)

Still, Slick decided to retire somewhat permanently from the music biz before the decade was through. In 1996, she was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame (along with Jefferson Airplane). And VH1 has ranked her No. 20 on their list of 100 Greatest Women of Rock N Roll.

You'll still hear her distinctive vocals popping up from time to time, but these days Grace spends her days drawing and painting.
