Oooh yeah: Ferris Bueller's leather jacket can be yours ... for $20,000
Ferris Bueller should never, EVER have lost his jacket. Matthew Broderick, why would you part with such an iconic piece of Hollywood history? I bet it still fits you!
In any case, the actual leather jacket that Broderick wore in Ferris Bueller's Day Off is up for auction. (No word on whether the sweater vest is next.) Profiles in History is auctioning the jacket with a current bid of $20,000. It ends July 28. Their description:
"Matthew Broderick’s signature leather jacket features tan, gray, and black pattern with metal rivets, black fabric cuffs and collar and zipper closure pockets. It shows a few tiny holes and light wear, as well as a tear on the lower back which occurred while filming of the scene where Broderick runs through the bushes attempting to beat his parents home after his adventurous day of playing hooky. An iconic and instantly recognizable costume from the film."
It actually has tears from the running-through-bushes scene?!? I can barely breathe right now! If I bought this, I would wear it around the house every night until -- aww, who am I kidding ... no way that jacket fits me -- so I would just freeze it in clear carbonite, thawing it just once annually to admire it in my own hands while watching the movie and eating pancreas.
Still, 20k? To paraphrase John Lennon, "I don't believe in auctions, I just believe in me."
But it is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. If you're not bidding on this in 15 minutes, you can find yourself a new best friend.
