Paradise by Ruth Eckerd's light: Meat Loaf coming Aug. 15
Four years is a long time between visits from a guy we affectionately know as Meat Loaf. The man born Marvin Lee Aday hasn’t played Ruth Eckerd Hall since 2008, but — before you take the words right out of my mouth — now he has an Aug. 15 date at the Clearwater venue. Tickets go on sale Saturday at noon and are priced at $100, $69.50 and $49.50.
"People who come to Meat Loaf shows know what to expect," the singer said in his tour announcement. "They know they're going to get full-on energy with the best rock 'n' roll band in the world. That's not an opinion. That's the truth."
I interviewed "Meat" the last time he rolled through town, and it was a pretty memorable chat. You can still hear it online, though it's not in podcast form. He'd just gotten over some pretty bizarre medical problems and was feeling pretty chipper when we spoke. I was later invited backstage to meet him before the show, but I couldn't make it. If I'm invited back this time around, I wouldn't miss it for the world.
