Party like it's 199... well, 1980: Top tunes of '80 and '81




With all due respect to Prince and his signature New Year's Eve hit 1999, which I'd say I never need to hear again (but I do, because it's still fun some 10,000 listenings later), this Friday night, celebrate the demise of 2010 and the arrival of 2011 with the appropriate '80s music.

I've done all the work for you. Behold the top 20 songs of 1980 and 1981. It's easy to see the influence of the '70s still had its grip on the hits in 1980. Captain and Tennille? Aye-aye. Bette Midler? Long before she was the wind beneath anyone's wings. At least 1981's songs aren't quite so cringe-worthy. Or are they??
