Podcast time: Men at Work's Colin Hay

28

March

Colin_hay Colin Hay must wake up every morning and wonder where he is. The former Men at Work frontman and songwriter grew up in Scotland, formed a legendary band in Australia and now has made a home in L.A. for the last couple decades.

Add in the endless touring and I'm thinking the guy ought to have a severe case of identity crisis. (Or at least a very sharp set of luggage.) Thankfully nothing can be further from the truth. After just a short conversation with him this week, we can report Colin seems content with who he is and what his legacy in music is likely to shape up as.

He still loves Men at Work, but realizes it's not a band likely to reform anytime soon. And so these days, it's just Colin ... on the road, doing his own songs to appreciative audiences, like the one he'll face March 31 at the Largo Cultural Center.

Sean Daly and I had a quick chat with Colin for this week's podcast. And as you will learn soon, it's not our average interview. It's very short, hard to hear at times and there's a disconnect as we two fanboys try to wring out longer answers from a guy we've admired for more than 25 years. Like Sean always says, there's a downside to hero worship. Still, we think it's a podcast worth listening to.
