Prom still guilty pleasure (but Sid was innocent!)

Prom_1 Teenage angst, gaudy fashion, scenester posers, synthesizer-fueled power pop -- and, oh yeah, lots and lots of AquaNet hairspray. So much in fact that you'll think the ozone layer was conquered in a single night. It's all there and more in our 80s prom party podcast.

The Stuck in the 80s gang is back in the home office after two weeks on the road recording shows. Our latest show -- the 80s prom party at Tampa Theatre -- is now online. Click here to listen or click here to subscribe for free to the whole series.

Coming this week: Our interview with Patty Smyth is coming up next. Look for the show this Thursday. Patty was a great interview subject: flirty, fun, totally honest and cliche-free. And if you think her spot in Scandal is the only role she played in the 80s, you're due for a real education.

And next week: Sid and Nancy

Sidandnancy The 1986 film Sid and Nancy, starring Gary Oldman and Chloe Webb, is the subject of the next podcast we're recording. The bio-pic of Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and girlfriend Nancy Spungen was a must-see in the 80s for fans of punk rock.

Gary Oldman transforms himself to the lanky, pasty punk god in his first big-screen starring role. He's since gone on to play Lee Harvey Oswald (JFK), Dracula (Bram Stoker's Dracula), Rosencrantz (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead), Beethoven (Immortal Beloved), Rev. Dimmesdale (The Scarlet Letter) and of course, Sirius Black (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban).

Expect a lot of Sex Pistols music during the show and stories about the real people behind the characters.

Top 5 favorite Sex Pistols songs:
5. Bodies: "I'm not an abortion. I'm not an animal."
4. Pretty Vacant: "Don't ask us to attend cuz we're not all there."
3. Submission: "I can't figure out your watery love."
2. God Save the Queen: "When there's no future, how can there be sin?"
1. Anarchy in the U.K.: "Your future dream is a shopping scheme"
