Release the Kracken! Here's comes 'Clash 2: Hellenic Boogaloo'

clash-of-the-titans-remake-2.jpgHere's a sequel we didn't see coming: Clash of the Titans, the remake of the 1981 classic that was reinvented in 2010, has been tapped for a second installment, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

A sequel to a remake? In the '80s, the only sequels allowed involved serial killers, deep-space flights and/or Steve Guttenberg (photo left?). Sadly, Clash of the Titans offers none of those. (Though if Guttenberg were a Greek god, I'm guessing he'd be Hypnos, God of Sleep.)

Alas, Jonathan Liebesman has signed a deal to direct a sequel anyway. Turns out that grossing $491 million is mightier than all the negative reviews by critics.

This time, expect Clash 2 to be shot in real 3D (not the post-production type that was applied to the remake.) THR also says some high-priced talent is being wooed to write the script. Stars Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton are among the actors expected to return as well.

[BTW, Steve Guttenberg can be any god he wants to be. I'd love to have the Gutt on the Stuck in the '80s podcast sometime.]
