Rush's Countdown: Perfect ending to 30 years of space shuttles
Rush's Countdown is a necessary listen Friday as we follow the final launch and journey of Space Shuttle Atlantis here in Florida. (The weather outside in Tampa Bay is biblically awful, so we had zero chance to see it except on TV.)
Countdown, released in 1982 as the final song on the Signals album, was inspired by the first launch of the shuttle, which Rush witnesses in person from a VIP area at the cape. The song includes the voices of astronauts John W. Young and Robert Crippen as well as communication from ground control.
