Saturday earworm: 'No Spill Blood' by Oingo Boingo
One of the odder songs, if that's possible, of Oingo Boingo's catalog is this one: No Spill Blood. The lyrics are believed to be inspired by H.G. Wells' The Island of Dr. Moreau, in which a mad scientist on a remote island conducts experiments on animals, turning them into man-like creatures. (Devo's Jocko Homo uses the same inspiration.)
It's from Oingo Boingo's 1983 album Good for Your Soul, a record whose best-known hit was Who Do You Want to Be (brilliantly used in the Tom Hanks materpiece Bachelor Party.)
Probably not the best song for a mix-tape for your sweetie. But a good Saturday earworm anyway.
