Setback for Bret Michaels: Stroke puts singer back in hospital
Rocker/reality star Bret Michaels is back in the hospital after a "warning stroke," the Associated Press says.
Michaels has been diagnosed with a "patent forum ovale, or hole in the heart," reports say. He was hospitalized after feeling numb on the left side of his body. Doctors say the condition is operable and treatable and likely unrelated to the brain hemorrhage the 47-year-old suffered last month.
Additional tests were being conducted to determine the best course of treatment. Doctors said Michaels is currently being treated with a daily injection of a blood thinner to reduce the risk of clots.
There's no word on how this will affect his touring plans, including a stop in September at St. Petersburg's Tropicana Field.
