So Wicked: Another '80s TV star prospers on Broadway

WickedLook at the photo to your left. Does he look familiar? How about if I tell you his name: Richard Kline.

Still drawing a blank? Okay, picture him 30 years younger, hitting on women at the Regal Beagle. YES! It's "Larry" from TV's Three Company.

Kline's acting career continued long after Three's Company wrapped in 1984. He appeared in just about every '80s sit-com and drama series on TV including, St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues, Hotel, Matlock ... even Silver Spoons and Punky Brewster.

Still, when you see him, you can't help but think of Larry first.

Kline"I'm not naive. I know (Three's Company) probably hindered me in various jobs but when you look at the whole spectrum, I don't regret it for a second," Kline told me during a recent phone call.

These days, Kline is traveling around the country on the national tour of Wicked, where he plays the part of the "Wizard of Oz."

The tour is currently playing Tampa through Feb. 28 at the Straz Center. Click here to read my interview with Kline. And yes, it starts with all the usual Three's Company questions.
