Still the king at 50? Ranking Eddie Murphy's movies ... bottom to top

April

Eddie Murphy/Coming to AmericaEddie Murphy is 50 years old today? Ha. Ha. Very funny mother-#@!*er! Anyway, I-I-I-I want the knife so I can cut the birthday cake this special day by offering up my special present: A ranking of Eddie Murphy's movies -- top to bottom. And before you animation fans get on my case, let me say my list excludes any of his cartoon voicing. I gotta see Eddie to rank Eddie.

Hard to believe there are only 30 movies to consider. Eddie wasn't big on appearing in movies where he wasn't the big star (Dreamgirls being an exception), so his output is lower than his peers. And, I say with all the confidence of Axel Foley, Eddie's best work was on television, records and cable -- not the big screen. (Delirious, Saturday Night Life, Comedian, Raw, you name it.)

If you crave more applause for Eddie, read our special column this week marking his big birthday. Enjoy the list and stay tuned for the official Stuck in the '80s podcast on Eddie Murphy in the '80s, coming later this week.
