Talk to ya soon: The Tubes' latest tour includes Orlando date
Not many bands of the early '80s made as effective use of MTV as The Tubes. Think about it. She's a Beauty. Talk to Ya Later. You know the videos better than the songs themselves. And while casual fans haven't heard as much from the San Francisco band in the decades that followed, they remain out there, still touring, still dazzling long-time fans. Now imagine you're actually there, watching Fee Waybill and company on stage.
No sweat, if you live in Orlando. The Tubes play Hard Rock Live here on March 7. (Here are some more dates for other corners of the country.) And seriously, Tampa fans, it's worth the short, 90-minute drive to see The Tubes, isn't it?
"It’s all about the live show," Waybill said in an interview published this weekend in The Mercury. "We’re an intimate setting kind of band. It works better for us if everybody can hear everything, we can see people and make eye contact with people."
No problem in Orlando, the band's only Florida tour stop so far. The Hard Rock Live offers great interaction between fans and the bands.
"Back in the old days, you’d have a couple of hits, and you’d be kind of forced by management and the record company to move into bigger halls," Waybill continued. "Promoters wanted to offer you more money to sell more tickets to get into a bigger hall and you’d lose that intimacy, that personal touch. On the one hand I miss it, on the other I would rather play to 700 seats than 7,000 seats."
Hard Rock Live puts you comfortably between those two numbers, Fee. Can't wait to see you there.
